Hard Rain (#PoetryMonday*)

"For he makes his sun rise on the evil
and on the good, and sends rain
on the just and on the unjust."
-- Matthew 5:45, ESV

"[H]aving a hope in God,
which these men themselves accept,
that there will be a resurrection
of both the just and the unjust."
-- Acts 24:15, ESV

The pre-rain gloom
glazes everything gray

all fall down
all rise up

flowers and weeds
by the same rain

fire and steel
bloom into
ash and rust

clouds clear to shine
the sun fades worn hope
warms faith

eyes-closed darkness
feeds despair
rotting soul and heart

life is hard for all and ends
but not all ends are the same
